The use of Sulphonylurea drugs especially gliclazide has been\ntaken into consideration for treating the symptoms of diabetes. So, this study\nwas conducted to investigate the effect of gliclazide on normal and diabetic\nrats via some hematological parameters and biochemical analysis. The experiment\nwas performed on 80 male albino rats, distributed into 4 experimental groups ,\nwith 20 rats per groups. Streptozotocin (STZ) was injected at the dose of 55\nmg\/kg oncelly, intraperitoneal of 2nd group. The 1st group served as control,\nthe 3rd group received 10mg dose of gliclazide and the 4th group&nbsp; received 55 mg dose of STZ oncelly with 10mg\ndose of gliclazide by gavages daily for 4weeks. Diabetic animals exhibited\nhigher&nbsp; blood glucose levels&nbsp; with altered&nbsp;\nbody weight . Liver transaminase enzymes, serum creatinine, urea,\ninsulin&nbsp; and lipid profile&nbsp; levels were significantly increased ,while\nsreum total protine and albumin levels were significantly decreased in diabetic\nrats . Treatment with gliclazide ameliorated hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and\nkidney function. In addition, gliclazide minimized&nbsp; the histological alterations in the&nbsp; Pancrease, Liver and kidney of diabetic rats.\nIn conclusion , this study strongly suggests that gliclazide exerts a\nprotective role against diabetes-induced hepatic disease, renal injury and\ndyslipidemia , by ameliorating high liver enzymes, oxidative stress and\nhypercholesterolemia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Key words<\/strong>: gliclazide; Streptozotocin; Diabetes:, hematological\nparameters; biochemical analysis; Liver enzymes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ABSTRACT Diabetes Type 2 is one of the most common diseases all over the world that menaces the economies of all countries, particularly for developing&nbsp; nations.
